Irish Potato Soup

Irish Potato Soup
Irish cooks wasted nothing, especially the water used to boil vegetables or, if they were lucky, a chicken or shank of ham. This stock formed the vitamin-rich basis of Irish potato soup, a standard in peasant cottages. It might be served with another standard, potato bread.
Ingredients
6 medium potatoes
2 medium onions
1 tablespoon butter
2 pints vegetable stock
1/2 pint milk
1 teaspoon cornmeal (or flour)
salt and pepper
parsley
Cooking Instructions
  1. Peel and dice potatoes.
  2. Chop onions.
  3. Melt butter in a heavy, covered pot.
  4. Add potatoes and onions.
  5. Cook potatoes and onions until soft (do not brown).
  6. Add stock.
  7. Bring to boil and then reduce heat; simmer until the vegetables are soft (stir
      constantly).
  8. Remove from heat and put through a sieve (or food processor/blender in modern
      times*).
  9. Return to pot and reheat.
10. Mix cornmeal (or flour) and milk; stir gradually into soup until the desired consistency
is reached (can skip this step, if desired).
11. Add salt and pepper to taste.
12. Garnish with parsley.

*Do not put hot soup into a food processor or blender. It might explode! Allow the mixture to cool first.

Here is a clever way to spice up your children's holiday crafts have them cut up strips of paper for a paper chain color all dependent on the holiday get some paints an have them paint patterns on one color of the strips, and a different pattern on the other color strips wait for the paint to dry and staple to together to make your paper chain.
Send pictures of what you make! :)

Fogging witches brew!

Fogging Witches Brew
(Smoking Punch)
This is a very easy creative drink recipe to use in your all hollow eve's parties. All you need is...
(Per batch)
1 packet of orange drink mix
1 packet of purple (grape) drink mix
3 quarts of water
1 litter of ginger ale
1 cup of sugar
Several large hunks of dry ice
This will make a larger, ((I REALLY DO MEAN LARGE!)) bowl of punch the punch will be a dark orange if you want to make it black I would use another half packet of of purple (grape) drink mix. Stir every thing but the dry ice together in a bowl wait until the guests start arriving then slowly start adding the dry ice into the punch be careful when serving the punch not to get any dry ice in the cups unless it is liquid. Dry ice as a solid is very bad to ingest dry ice as a liquid is okay to ingest. Watch the kids be in awe and amazement at your drinkable bubbling good tasting potion!

Halloween bash!
